This policy describes what Gadgetholic records when you use the site, and what we deliberately do not record. It is written to match what the site actually does.
What we record when you click a product link
When you click a link to a merchant, we record one row so we can tell which setups are useful. That row contains:
- an opaque identifier for the click, generated at random
- when it happened
- which page, which product, and which link it came from
- a two-letter country code, or
ZZwhen we do not know - a coarse device class: mobile, tablet, desktop, or unknown
- the host of the page you arrived from, such as
pinterest.com— never the full address - campaign parameters from the link you followed
What we deliberately do not record
The following are not stored, anywhere, in any form:
- your IP address
- your browser user agent — it is read once to work out “mobile or desktop”, then discarded
- your name, email address, or any account identifier
- your precise location
- anything you enter on a merchant’s site after you leave ours
We do not build a profile of you, and we cannot identify you from what we keep.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not to remember you between visits. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Merchants you visit through our links set their own cookies under their own policies, which is how affiliate programs attribute a sale — but that happens on their site, not ours.
Analytics
We use no third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no heatmaps. The only thing we count is the click described above, and we count it on our own server.
If that changes we will say so here, change the date at the bottom, and describe what changed.
Merchants and affiliate programs
When you follow a link to a merchant, you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. Affiliate programs use their own tracking to attribute a sale, and we have no control over it. Please read the privacy policy of any merchant you buy from.
How long we keep it
We keep a click record for 13 months, then delete it. Thirteen months is the shortest period that lets us compare a month against the same month a year earlier, which is how we tell a real change from a seasonal one. Nothing in the record identifies you, so there is nothing to delete on request — there is no “you” in it to find.
Your rights
Most privacy rights — access, correction, deletion, portability — depend on us being able to find your data. We cannot. The click record contains no name, no email, no account, no IP address and no device identifier, so there is no way to look up what is “yours” even if you asked us to. This is a property of what we collect, not a policy we could quietly change: the record’s shape is fixed in code and tested.
- We do not sell or share your information, because we do not have any to sell or share.
- We do not use your information for advertising or targeting.
- If you believe we hold something about you and this page is wrong, write to us and we will look and tell you what we find.
Rights relating to what a merchant collects after you leave our site are theirs to honour, not ours. Their privacy policy will say how.
